FLAG Grant Details
The Uncle Kory Foundation (UKF) FLAG Grant Program provides funding to support innovative pediatric brain cancer research. The program is designed to help investigators launch or advance innovative pediatric brain cancer research by supporting new research initiatives, generating preliminary data, and positioning promising projects for future external funding.
FLAG Grants provide awards of up to $50,000 for an initial one-year project period. Investigators who demonstrate satisfactory progress may be considered for a second year of funding of up to $50,000, contingent upon progress, available funding, and approval by the Uncle Kory Foundation.
Indirect costs and institutional overhead are not permitted.

Funding recommendations are made by the UKF Medical Advisory Board and are subject to final approval by the Foundation's Board of Directors.
Eligibility
The FLAG Grant Program is open to investigators from eligible academic institutions worldwide conducting research focused on pediatric brain cancer.
The Principal Investigator (PI) must hold an independent research or faculty appointment (or the equivalent at their institution) and be authorized by their institution to serve as a PI on externally funded research grants. Graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, residents, clinical fellows, and other trainees are encouraged to participate as co-investigators or key personnel; however, applications must be led by an eligible PI.
Applications are accepted from eligible academic institutions worldwide. Applications from industry, biotechnology companies, or other private organizations are not eligible.
Terms
The grant term is one year, with awards of up to $50,000.
Investigators may be considered for a second year of funding based on satisfactory progress, available funding, and approval by the Uncle Kory Foundation.
Recipients are required to submit:
A Progress Report six months after the initial funding date.
A Final Scientific Report one year after the funding date.
A Final Financial Report documenting the use of grant funds.
The research project must be directly related to pediatric brain cancer.
Grant funds must be used solely to support the approved research project.
The Uncle Kory Foundation does not allow administrative or indirect costs to be charged to FLAG Grant awards.
Award recipients agree that the investigator's name, institution, project title, and a brief lay summary of the research may be published on the Uncle Kory Foundation website and in Foundation materials.
Publications, presentations, or other scholarly works resulting from research supported by this award should acknowledge funding from the Uncle Kory Foundation FLAG Grant Program.
