Thank you for your interest in the Uncle Kory Foundation (UKF) FLAG Grant Program. We are committed to supporting innovative pediatric brain cancer research by providing funding to help investigators launch new research initiatives, generate preliminary data, and advance promising projects toward future external funding.

Before beginning your application, we encourage you to review the FLAG Grant Details and FLAG Grant FAQ pages for important information regarding eligibility, funding, reporting requirements, and program policies.

1. Complete the Online Application

The online application portal will open on February 1, 2027.

Applicants should complete the online application and upload all required application materials.

2. Application Deadline

Applications must be received no later than March 1, 2027.

Applicants will be notified of funding decisions by approximately April 15, 2027. Funding is expected to begin by June 1, 2027.


3. Project Summary

Provide a brief description of your proposed research in lay language suitable for a general audience. This summary may be used by the Foundation to describe your project if it is selected for funding.

4. Description of Proposed Investigation

Upload a clear and concise description of the proposed investigation and its potential to improve the diagnosis, treatment, or understanding of pediatric brain cancer.

The proposal may not exceed four typed pages and should be organized using the following sections:

  • Specific Aims

  • Significance

  • Background/Preliminary Data

  • Methods

Font size must be 11-point or larger. The four-page limit applies only to the proposal narrative; reference pages are excluded from the page count.

5. Required Supporting Documents

Please upload the following application materials, as applicable:

  • Current NIH Biosketch (or equivalent)

  • Project Budget

  • Relevant Publication List

  • Other Support Form (if applicable)

  • Signed Statement of Understanding

  • Letter of Support from the Department Chair, Division Chief, or equivalent institutional official

  • Letter of Collaboration or Recommendation (if applicable)

Please name all uploaded files using the following format:

LastName_DocumentName

Examples: Smith_Biosketch.pdf, Smith_Proposal.pdf, Smith_Budget.pdf, Smith_OtherSupport.pdf

6. Documents Required Only if Funded

The following documents may be required after an award has been made, if applicable:

  • Institutional Approvals

  • Biohazards Statement

  • Human Investigation Statement

  • Laboratory Animal Statement

7. Final Submission

Applications must be received by March 1, 2027.

Incomplete or late applications will not be considered for funding.
